Chappy AI

Hey! I'm Chappy.

Your careers education assistant. Ask me anything about events, lessons, Gatsby progress, students, and more.

Ask Chappy anything...

Paused - Chappy reads your live school data, not a generic model

ChappyChappy answering from live school data, and returning a structured card rather than prose.

Why it matters

What changes

The honest version of the before, and what it looks like once this is running.

Without Chapter
  • A general chatbot that has never seen your school
  • Answers that sound right and cite nothing
  • Copy-pasting data out of the dashboard to ask a question about it
  • AI that can describe work but not do any
With Chapter
  • Answers grounded in your actual events, pupils, lessons and benchmarks
  • Structured cards - a Gatsby table, a student card - not a wall of text
  • Actions it can take: create an event, schedule a session, draft a worksheet
  • A visible activity line naming what it is looking at

How it works

Up and running in minutes

Three steps, in the order you'd actually do them.

Ask in plain English

A question about a pupil, an event, a benchmark gap or your programme - no query syntax.

Watch it read your data

Chappy calls tools against your school and names each one as it runs, so you can see where the answer came from.

Let it do the work

Create an event, schedule a session, generate slides or draft an email - straight from the answer.

In detail

How it actually works

The mechanics behind the screenshot.

01

It reads your school, then it acts on it

Chappy is not answering from a general model's memory. It calls tools against your data - list events, search students, get the Gatsby overview - and you can see it doing so, because each call names itself while it runs.

  • Reads: events, lessons, guidance sessions, students, providers, Gatsby overview
  • Writes: creates events, schedules sessions, generates slides and worksheets
  • Shows its work - 'Loading Gatsby data…', 'Searching students…'
  • Answers stream back, with up to five tool steps per question

Show me students at risk of missing careers benchmarks

C

14 pupils in Year 11 have fewer than 3 benchmarks evidenced. The largest gap is Benchmark 6 - experiences of workplaces.

02

Structured answers, and a help mode that stays in its lane

Where a card is clearer than a sentence, Chappy returns a card - an event with its status, a pupil with their evidence count out of eight, a benchmark table with target markers. And when it is answering a question about Chapter itself, it drops into help mode: documentation only, no school data, short plain-English answers.

  • Cards for events, lessons, sessions, students, Gatsby overview, curriculum
  • Full markdown - tables, task lists, code, internal links into the app
  • Help mode restricted to the documentation, with no data access
  • Chats saved, starrable and searchable

Questions

The things schools ask

It answers from tool calls against your data rather than from recall, and it names the tools it used while running. Where it has no data it says so instead of filling the gap.

Yes, and deliberately so - it can create events, schedule guidance sessions, add providers to an event, generate slides and worksheets, and draft emails. Everything it writes is visible and editable afterwards.

No. School data is passed as context for your request and is not used for training.

When you ask about Chapter itself, Chappy switches to a restricted mode with only the help articles available - no school data - and answers in short plain English.
